Wacky Weather: Storm blasts Cape Cod (December 10, 2005)

What's up with the weather? It seems like there have been numerous strange weather occurrences over the last year. The first ever hurricane in Brazil, the New Orleans hurricane, and this impromptu hurricane on Cape Cod. STORY

Here's a little snip of the article in case it isn't available in the future.

The storm's severity surprised meteorologists as much as residents.

''People's barometers saw tremendous falls and subsequent rises,'' said Walter Dragg at the National Weather Service in Taunton. ''Wind fields, weather and water responded in an anomalous fashion. This was not normal.''

Temperatures fell 10 to 15 degrees between 2 o'clock and the beginning of the heavy winds an hour later. Winds from the south that averaged 30 to 50 mph at the beginning of the storm shifted to the west and intensified to 40 to 70 mph, according to Dragg.

I'm going to keep track on my blog, so if you have a strange weather occurrence please comment and include a link to the news story for credibility.

It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to get home. It normally takes 15 minutes. I called in my news report throughout the ride. Here's my final report as it aired on 101.1 The Wave, Cape Cod.

I was caught in the storm too! (With hundreds of others!) What nightmare-- and no one, in the Cape Cod Times or anywhere, is giving enough explanation of this bizarre weather and how it occurred...the whale strandings, the wierd tides and geyserlike waves, the incredible number of trees down...I really feel there must have been tornados...oh, I would love to know more!

It was rumored that there was a tornado in Brewster. I have not seen any offical confirmation.

The reports about the whales and dolphins raise more questions about this unusual weather occourence.
