USATODAY.com - First South Atlantic hurricane hits Brazil
Up until now, I had not verified the first hurricane to hit Brazil. After the freak weather that hit Cape Cod on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, I decided to check. Here's the USA Today article. Story
I would point out that the storm was dubbed, "Catarina" . Much like "Katrina" and "Rita"
The record breaking 2005 hurricane season also included "Wilma".

Here's a snippet:
"This system was totally different from anything we've ever seen here," said Laura Rodrigues, a meteorologist at the Santa Catarina state weather bureau. "It may be that it was neither a hurricane nor a subtropical cyclone, but rather something completely new."
HMMMMM.... interesting.
